Sustainability Policy
Brown Day Group recognises the need for environmentally sustainable design to be incorporated into its projects. Our buildings are designed to minimise their energy consumption whilst simultaneously creating inspiring architecture. We understand the requirements of green building design in addition to our responsibility to provide cost effective solutions to our clients and end users. We are members of the Green Star New Zealand Council and have Green star accredited professionals on staff. We are also experienced in the compilation of the documentation necessary for assessment by the New Zealand Green Building Council.
Brown Day Group can incorporate the following principals and initiatives into your projects:
- Building planning / orientation to maximize passive solar gains.
- Solar Energy and other alternative energy sources.
- Specification of appropriate insulation and double glazing systems.
- Specification of sustainable, “environmental choice” materials.
- Efficient systems to reduce CO2 emissions and energy use.
- Storm water harvesting systems and reticulation for landscape and bathroom use.
- Reduced volatile organic compounds in materials creating a healthy indoor environment.
- Develop management systems that facilitate the reduction of waste to landfill sent to landfill both during construction and throughout the buildings life.
- In conjunction with building service engineers provide computer modeling of energy use and daylight levels.
